Additional Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal today envisioned the ‘Swachh Survekshan Grameen-2018' and ‘My Village My Pride’ campaign as a game changer for ensuring the comprehensive development of the villages in the district.Presiding over a meeting to review the implementation of the campaign here at the District Administrative Complex today, the Additional Deputy Commissioner asked the officers to ensure the effective implementation to transform the destiny of the people living in rural areas. He said that it was the need of hour to ensure that people were immensely benefitted from this campaign, which aims at holistic development of the villages and prosperity of its people. Mr. Jorwal said that officers must motivate the people to be a part of this mass movement. The Additional Deputy Commissioner aid that ‘My Village My Pride’ campaign under the aegis of Mission Swachh and Tandrust Punjab has been launched from August 1-31st for motivating all stakeholders in the rural areas to participate in the cleanliness drive of the their villages.
He said that special prizes have been kept for cleanest village, school, Anganwari and Health Center in the district. Mr. Jorwal said that it was all the more important to ensure that people were sensitized towards the need for making our environment clean, green and open defecation free.The Additional Deputy Commissioner said that the campaign assumes a lot of significance as this month long program was aimed at awakening the people about cleanliness of their surrounding areas. He called upon the people to be a part of this campaign as no such effort could be successful without active support and cooperation of people. Prominent amongst other present on the occasion included District Mandi Officer Mr. Varinder Khera, Executive Engineer Mr. Vijay Kumar, District Education Officer Mr. Satnam Singh, Sub Divisional Officer Mr. Gaggan Walia and others.
