Punjab Women Commission Settled 35 Cases In Lok Adalat

Punjab State Women's Commission Chairperson Manisha Gulati has disposed of 35 cases in two days Lok Adalat held at the commission’s head office.Divulging more, Manisha Gulati said that 51 cases presented for hearing in lok adalat, out of which, 35 cases were settled with the mutual consent of both the parties. She interacted with both the parties in every case to encourage them for amicable settlement of their disputes for peace and harmony in the society. She said that the purpose of setting up a Lok Adalat is to reduce the burden of the cases from the courts and provide timely justice to the people free of cost. She said it would relieve them from mental tension, which was the major problem faced by people these days.She advised that the victims should directly approach the commission to express their grievances. “We are personally listening to the problems of women at their nearby places in each district and also taking cognizance of the woes of women jail inmates by setting up special Lok Adalats there”, she said, adding that the commission is committed to provides quick justice without any delay and expense.Mrs. Gulati informed that she along with other official of the commission will visit all the districts of the state in next few days to take a stock of women grievances and to provide them justice at their door steps.It is pertinent to mention that women commission chairperson had called upon worthy President of India and union external affairs minister Mrs. Sushma Swaraj few days ago and they had assured strict action in the cases of deserted brides of the NRI grooms, besides assurance of enacting strong laws against these kind of migratory cheaters.
