Punjab Government Would Provide 5 To 10 Acres Additional Land To This Centre For Research Purposes

The Buffalo Research Centre of national acclaim would soon start operation at the village Booh, situated in district Tarn Taran.  The motive behind setting up this research centre is to encourage the farmers to opt for animal husbandry and dairy professions.It was disclosed by Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu, Minister for Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries, while presiding over a meeting held to review the progress for the setting up of this buffalo research centre. The meeting was attended MLAs of district Tarn Taran besides Additional Chief Secretary of the department Dr. G. Vajralingam.Mr. Balbir Sidhu said that the Punjab Government, in its maiden budget, has earmarked Rs.20 crores for the establishment of buffalo research centre at Patti, district Tarn Taran. During a meeting, it was decided that buffalo research centre would start its operation from Krishi Vigyan Kandra (KVK) at village Booh of district Tarn Taran. This centre would be affiliated with the Guru Angad Dev veterinary and Animal Sciences University. To enable this centre to conduct research, Punjab Government would be provided 5 to 10 acre of additional land. Besides cultivation of green fodder, a high tech, state of the art ‘Demonstration centre’ would be set up on this land. 

Farmers would be imparted training on the animal husbandry and dairy farming with latest available technology.Balbir Singh Sidhu said that he would visit the village Booh on june 25 to take stock of the preparedness of the department to start this Buffalo Research Centre. Punjab Government and Guru Anagad Dev University would jointly arrange the gathering of progressive farmers at village Booh, wherein progressive farmers would share their experiences and techniques  with the other farmers who wish to opt for animal husbandry and dairy farming profession on scientific terms.The Minister said that Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on many occasions has expressed his vision for the holistic development of the border area. He said that Chief Minister himself announced the setting up of Buffalo Research Center at District Tarn Taran. “Complying with the announcement made by the Chief Minister, Animal Husbandry Department is all set to start Buffalo Research Centre at village Booh of District Tarn Taran.” added Mr. Sidhu.
