Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan will be observed in District Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar from 14 April to 5 May. The main objective of program is to promote social harmony & integration, to seek suggestion for govt. schemes, to encourage people participation for new initiatives, increasing income of farmers, increasing employment opportunities, emphasises on national missions like Swachta Abhiyaan and to strengthen the Panchayti Raj System. This was stated by Additional Deputy Commissioner S. Charandev Singh Maan in a meeting with officials of various departments regarding Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan. He said that during the Abhiyaan, it will be ensured that the benefit of 7 schemes namely Ujala Yojna, Pradhan Mantri Ujwala Yojna, Sehaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojna – Saubhagya, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna, Pradhan Mantri Jiwan Jyoti Bima Yojna, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojna & Mission Inderdhanush, is extended to the eligible beneficiaries.Additional Deputy Commissioner said that there will be a specific aspect of this campaign wherein the information about funds utilisation by Gram Panchayats and other activities being carried out by Gram Panchayats regarding schemes will be made public. As such, the information will be displayed through wall paintings and flexes. He said that April 14 will be marked by district level program on Social Justice. On 18th April program will be organised by Department of Water Supply & Sanitation and Swach Bharat divas will be celebrated by all Gram Panchayats and awareness about the same will be generated through rallies. Similarly on 20 April, Ujwala divas will be celebrated, under which through various meetings of Panchayats, LPG Gas cylinders will be distributed to eligible beneficiaries and preservation, safety aspects and safe use of LPG will be explained.

Under the Campaign, National Panchayati Raj Divas is to be celebrated on 24 April 2018. On that occasion, panchayats will be honoured with E-Puruskar, Din Dyal Upadhyay Panchayat empowerment, Nanaji Deshmukh Rashtriya Gaurav Sabha Puruskar by Prime Minister on the basis of their performance. On that day special gathering will be organised wherein information about health & vaccination, Women empowerment will be provided. Apart from this, drawing and painting competitions will also be organised. S. Maan  said that a district level program will be organised by Rural Development & Panchayat Department, wherein benefits of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna, Pradhan Mantri Sehaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojna, & other govt .schemes will be extended to eligible beneficiaries. S. Maan said that on 30 April, Ayushman Bharat Diwas will be celebrated by Health & Family welfare department, wherein information about health insurance and about the Ayushman Bharat Scheme will be explained. May 2, will be celebrated as Kisan Kalyan Diwas by Agriculture Department, under which information about modern agriculture practices will be given to farmers. May 5, will be celebrated as Ajivika Divas where at offer letters for jobs will be provided to eligible candidates and special feature films on skill development will be presented and credit camp will be organised for RSETI candidates.Additional Deputy Commissioner said that all the officers should perform their duties dedicatedly for successful implementation of campaign, so that maximum benefit of schemes should be extended to the eligible beneficiaries. He said any kind of negligence towards this will not be acceptable.During the meeting DDPO D.K.Saldi, DFSE Sukhwinder Singh, BDPO Baljinder Singh, BDPO Rana Partap Singh, BDPO Dilawar Kaur and Gurdial Kumar from Agriculture Department were present among other officers of various departments.
