Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary today inspected the de-silting works on main head of Ranbir canal at various spots in Akhnoor, Domana, Paloura and Toph-Sherkhania.Chief Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control, K.K Mangotra and other senior officers of PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control department accompanied the Minister during his inspection visit.While inspecting the de-silting works, the Minister directed the Chief Engineer to engage more men and machinery to expedite the ongoing work so that the water can be released in the canal on Baisakhi.He further directed the concerned authorities to take all necessary steps to clear all bottlenecks in this regard, besides ensuring proper de-silting and cleanliness of main heads of the Ranbir Canal so that task to provide timely irrigation water to all irrigation land from Ranbir Canal could be achieved.

The Minister asked the concerned to personally monitor the progress of ongoing de-silting and cleanliness works on whole canal from Akhnoor to Jammu. He asked them to ensure that garbage retrieved from the canal be dumped at specific locations so that commuters don’t face any difficulty.Earlier, the Minister also distributed cheques worth Rs. 36 lakh among 193 beneficiaries of cross border firing under SDRF scheme at Chakroi, Ranbir Singh Pura.While addressing the gathering, the Minister said that the government would provide adequate compensation to the  victims of cross border firing .SDM R.S Pura, Naresh Kumar Sharma, Tehsildars, RS Pura, Suchetgarh, BDOs RS Pura, Suchetgarh, senior citizens, besides senior officers of Revenue Department were present on the occasion.
