Several members today raised the issues of public importance during Zero Hour in the Legislative Council and sought government’s intervention for early redress of the same.Qaisar Jamsheed Lone drew the attention of the government towards the fire incident in Kupwara in which more than a dozen residential houses and shops got damaged. He demanded compensation for the affected people. Ali Mohammad Dar demanded early completion of footbridge at Shalina Seerbagh Soiteng on which work has been halted due to some reasons since 2015.Vibod Gupta highlighted the problems faced by refugees settled in various parts of Jammu and advocated for a special package for them.Yasir Reshi demanded swift repair/ replacement of damaged transformers in Sonawari Constituency to end power crisis in the area.Naresh Gupta drew the attention of government towards the problems being faced by the locals due to mixing plant near Drudu on Doda – Bhaderwah road. He said the emission of smoke and dust from the plant has become a health hazard for the locals and demanded its immediate shifting.Surinder Kumar Choudhary demanded that the special recruitment drive for raising 2 IRP battalions already sanctioned for border areas, should be conducted exclusively for inhabitants living within 5 km range of LoC/International border.Vikram Randhawa urged the government to take necessary steps to curb the menace of encroachment on the JDA and forest land around Jammu city.

Surinder Ambardar demanded hike in wages of laborers associated with the works being executed in Dal Lake and its vicinity, considering the tough working conditions.Ajatshatru Singh demanded to setup a museum at Mubarak Mandi to preserve the historical artefacts and valuables of Tosh-e-Khana. He said the valuable articles constitute a part of Dogra heritage and need to be preserved.G L Raina drew the attention of the government towards the dilapidated condition of JDA Residential quarters at Nehru Market. He said there were high chances of an untoward incident and the residents should be relocated to safe location till the quarters get renovated.Sham Lal Bhagat demanded allocation of funds for repair of irrigation canals in Asar area of Doda constituency, which would help in enhancing the production in vegetable rich area and eventually help to boost the economy of the locals.Javaid Ahmad Mirchal demanded better and all-weather road connectivity to Karnah.  He said the area remains cut off during winter season and causes immense sufferings to the local people.

Referring to loss of precious lives due to avalanche in the area, he demanded for immediate construction of Tunnel on Kupwara-Karnah road to prevent such incidents.saif ud din Bhat demanded coverage of remaining villages of Khansahab area under Water Supply Scheme Sukhnag to end the water scarcity in these habitations.G N Monga sought adequate medical aid for a patient namely Jameela hailing from Handwara and presently admitted in JVC Srinagar. He said the patient need huge units of blood which should be provided to her without any hassle.Ramesh Arora demanded resumption of the cross LOC bus through Chakein-de- Bagh point which, he said it has been suspended since many days due to cross-border shelling. He also condemned killing of people along LoC due to Pakistani shelling.Pardeep Sharma called for extending the ALC category benefits to all border residents.Khursheed Aalam drew attention of the government towards the deteriorating condition of Sainik School Manasbal. He said lack of facilities is affecting the studies of the students. He demanded that proper teaching and medical facilities must be provided to the students.Charanjeet Singh urged the government to respect the protocol of the legislators and asked the administration to attend to the issues of public importance projected by them.Sofi Mohammad Yousuf demanded regularization of SPOs engaged by the police on the pattern of casual workers.Zaffar Iqbal Manhas demanded blacktopping of all link roads of Keegam Tehsil of Shopian district in current financial year to address the long pending demand of the people of the area.
