A delegation of Punjab Unaided Technical Institutions Association (PUTIA) under the leadership of Dr. J.S. Dhaliwal, President, PUTIA met Mr A.K.Talwar, Principal Secretary, Technical Education recently. The delegation congratulated Mr Talwar for taking over the charge of new department. Rohin Sachdeva (Lala Lajpat Rai Group) and S.Avtar Singh (Sukhmani Group) were also part of the delegation.Dr Dhaliwal highlighted the problems being faced by the Colleges of Punjab and requested him to solve the problems. He said that on the pattern of foreign university and colleges, in Punjab also the colleges should be permitted to fill intake twice a year. This will not only help fill the vacant seats against sanctioned intake but would also help droppers and other students to save a year.

Sh. Rohin Sachdeva said that in JET entrance test which is conducted for admission in polytechnic colleges of Punjab should be not be continued. He said that in 2012 around 1, 20,000 students applied for the entrance test and 89,000 appeared in the exam. But at the end around 9000 students took admission through this test. He demanded that the whole exercise has wasted lot of time and money of students, parents and institutions. He requested government to relook the JET.Dr. Zora Singh (Desh Bhagat University) requested that AICTE Norms for different requirements of building, machinery and equipment, furniture and fixture etc should be on basis of admissions done not according to the intake of seats.Dr Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group appreciates the decision of Punjab Government to permit engineering colleges to start junior science colleges. He also requested that on that same pattern government should allow to start 10th class in junior science colleges to have feeding classes.
