After the verdict of the full bench of Punjab and Haryana High Court the voting right of the Sehajdharis have been restored and the SGPC Amritsar has not been granted any stay by the Supreme Court of India in an SLP thereby the voting right of the Sehajdharis has been reinstated in the SGPC, thereby it’s a great signal for the Sikh fraternity that Sehajdhari Sikhs are well recognized Sikhs and has a vital role to play in all the activities of Sikhism said Dr.P.S.Ranu the National President of Sehajdhari Sikh Party. The SGPC elections held in Sept last year  stood nullified after the High Court verdict and all the victorious candidates of  the newly elected SGPC have been kept away technically for the last one year. He  said that Sehajdhari Sikh Party shall seek votes for Sikh candidates of good moral values and the party workers from Haryana and Punjab units will put up in Delhi during the elections. We will create an awareness campaign amongst the Sikh Sangat by moving door to door and expose the agenda of  RSS which has directly interfered in the Sikh affairs with the help of SGPC and SAD(B) to create a wedge between community as this issue between the Amritdharis and Sehajdharis have been created by passing irrelevant resolutions by the SGPC during NDA Govt. which are of no religious value. They have distorted the definition of Sikh he added.

Dr.Ranu clarified that those who are baptized after partaking Amrit initiated by the Tenth Guru and adhere to the five ‘K’s’ (Kacha,Kara, Kanga, kesh and kirpan) are the Amritdharis and all others who are followers of Guru Granth sahib and are non baptized are the Sehajdharis irrespective of unshorn hairs or shaved beards. Patits are only the Amritdharis( Baptized) who violate baptism by committing  transgressions (kurahits). Sehajdharis are not Patits as they have never been baptized. Dr. Ranu questioned that if a person born in hindu family is a Hindu, born in Christian family is a Christian, born in Muslim family is a Muslim then why a Sikh born in a Sikh family is not considered as Sikh by these Sikh leaders. He claimed that 85% of the total World Sikh population is of the non-baptized Sikhs( Sehajdharis) and ignoring them in Gurdwara elections any where in the world is not possible for any faction now.

The press release issued by the Party stated that a five members committee has been constituted  by the Party President to study the election scene at Delhi which includes Sh. Darshan Singh Gurgaon State President of Haryana unit , S.Jagtar Singh Hissowal National President Youth Wing,  S.Jagtar Singh Dhaliwal General Secretary, Manjit Singh Sanghera Secretary  and Advocate Ranjit Singh  State Secretary of Punjab. This team will identify good candidates for campaign during the elections and will plan the election programme soon.
