Some media persons raised a question that during, before and after the Sarbat Khalsa the voice of the Sehajdhari Sikhs seems to be suppressed or they preferred to be silent on the issue of the community. Breaking the silence Dr.Paramjeet Singh Ranu National President of the Sehajdhari Sikh Party stated that Sehajdhari Sikhs are under shock due to the infighting of the Khalsa Panth. The whole Sikh community is feeling sad to see brothers fighting with brothers as it seems clear that the battle is just due to power lust for capturing the administration of the Gurdwaras and Sikh Shrines, nothing more.In the last days Punjab was virtually boiling and the hearts of Sikhs were shreeding tears when the ‘Living Guru Sri Guru Granth Sahib’ was disrecpected with act of sacrilege and when innocent protestors where cane charged and two youth were scumbed to death by the Punjab Police itself. Many Sikh Organizations and Political Parties blamed the ruling Govt. for the situation and gave memorandums to the Governor for President rule.
Every Punjabi Hindu, Sikh, Muslims irrespective of religion caste and creed felt the pain of the community and joined the protests and dharnas. Many Sikh preachers donated blood as protest and sent it to the CM residence and ultimately a common voice was raised by the Sikh community to resolve the situation by Sarbat Khalsa on 10 Oct 2015 which concluded on the land of Amritsar near Tarantarn.Dr. Ranu said that though Sarbat Khalsa was a congregation of the Khalsa (baptized Sikhs) but 85% of the Sikhs and followers of Guru Nanak Dev ji were heartly attached with the Sarbat Khalsa with a great hope that the community shall get a directive to come out of the crisis on the congregation. Though the Governing Shiromani Akali Dal and the SGPC has rejected the Sarbat Khalsa on the grounds that it was not held as per the traditional rules as it could be held at Akal Takht only, but this seems to be illogical as the Sikh Gurdwara Act 1925 by which the SGPC and other Institutions are goverened has no such mandatory provision and even in the past it was once held at Ananadpur Sahib.
On the other hand it’s a tradition that the Sarbat Khalsa is announced by the sitting Jathedar of the Akal Takht Sahib and should be held under the supremacy of the Akal Takht only as a mark of respect.The Sarbat Khalsa itself was under clouds of authenticity. Any way the Sarbat Khalsa was concluded but now terming it as Anti-National activity is totally absurd and against the law of the land and if it is so then the State Govt is equally responsible for it as it has allowed it to conclude on the land of Punjab. The ruling party was duly advertising and making statements on the TV channels a day before the function that its of the separatist and people should not go there then why didn’t the Govt impose section 144 or stop the organizors. This raised a question on the Govt. that either it is in conaivance or is at failure and in both the situations its duly responsible.
Today the whole Punjab is passing through a difficult time of religious and political turmoil. Every law abiding, peace loving citizen is interested to mainatian harmony and none is interested to push the State into the dark days of the past. It’s a history of fact that the Fascist forces have always been on toes to create divisions in the communities by playing their cards. Every Punjabi should remain aware of their actions and should jointly work to nab the culprits with the help of law. Sehajdhari Sikh Party has welcomed the move of CBI to investigate the sacrilage incidences. Dr.Ranu said his party shall jointly work with secular forces with the help of youth to maintain peace and sancity of the religious institutions and shall never allow any fascist force to disturb the peace and harmony of Punjab.
