The Shiromani Akali Dal today lashed out at the Congress government on farmer suicides during last six months and accused the Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh of patting his own back with false and misleading figures.In a statement issued here today, the SAD General  Secretary and Member Parliament Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra said that upset over the false promise of the Congress party to waive of their entire loans, farmers of the state are committing suicides and Congress government shssould immediately implement loan waiver scheme to stop these suicides. He said that even during the election campaign of the  Punjab elections, the Congress party had made false and misleading claims on suicide by seven thousand farmers during the regime of the SAD-BJP government and now too it was fudging figures on suicides by the farmers during its six month tenure.Prof. Chandumajra said that suicides by the was not a small issue but government is not sincere towards this issue. He said that the government had first announced that a group of ministers will visit the aggrieved families and instead of taking care of these families, the government was issuing them wrong cheques which are bouncing in banks. Prof. Chandumajra also condemned the arrest of the leaders of the farmer unions by the police and said that in democracy everyone has right to give his/her views. He said that when farmers felt that they have been betrayed by the Congress government they started protesting and government is now trying to suppress their voice with the power of the police lathis. He said that the Shiromani Akali Dal is standing firmly with the farmers and will not let the Congress walk away by deceiving farmers. He said that  Congress government will have to waive farmers loans and fulfill all election promises, the SAD will ensure this.
