The Punjab Government and UK in principle decided to join hands for imparting skill development and technical education to the youth of the state with the view to provide them better employment opportunities in the foreign countries. It was disclosed by Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi after meeting the Deputy High Commissioner of Britain Mr. Andrew Ayre at his office at Chandigarh.The Minister Said that the Punjab Government is focusing on providing better higher education to the youth of Punjab to enable them get jobs in the leading industries of the world. He said that the first step in this direction would be the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Punjab and UK on June 20. He said that under the terms this MOU the students who study degree/course in Punjab or UK would be provided duel certificate which would have international recognition.Mr. Channi said that the need and feasibility of setting up a skill development in Punjab was also discussed during the meeting with Mr. Ayre. He said that the senior authorities of the technical education department have been asked to prepare a draft report in this regard. He said that under the agreement UK would send skill development experts in Punjab to impart technical education and skill development training to the youth of Punjab.The Minister further said that after getting modernize skill development training and technical education youth of Punjab would definitely mark their existence on the international industrial map.Prominent among other who were present on this occasion included Mr. Kahan Singh Pannu, Secretary, Technical Education and Industrial Training department and Vice Chancellor of PTU, Mr. Sandeep Kaura and Madhuchanda Mishra.
