UGI organized International Nurses Week to thank the superheroes of health care

The International Nurses Week was celebrated at Universal group of Institutions to commemorate birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, pioneer of modern nursing. The inaugural function was followed by seminar explaining that nurses are frontline healthcare providers, who at times make important decisions to save the lives of the patients and show  resilience in every challenging situation and disastrous circumstances.While speaking at the moment Dr. Gurpreet Singh chairman UGI said that compassion is an essential component of nursing care. Absence of training in compassion and empathy is responsible for poor attitude of nurses towards patient care. According to him we need technically competent nurses but at the same time they should demonstrate the virtues of compassion and empathy. He further added there is an urgent need to focus on a culture of compassion and empathy at all levels in nurse education, training and recruitment.Further appreciating nurses he informed that this day is all about celebrating nurses endless contributions to society, Nursing staff is like the superheroes of health care. When needed most, they are there changing lives with their unique set of skills and today is Nurses Day to say thanks to superheroes.
