National Conference on Monday lashed out at the PDP-BJP Government for being vindictive towards Dal dwellers and inhabitants in the face of massive flooding in the areas and said PDP was hell-bent to torment the inhabitants as a punishment for voting against the party in the recently held by-elections. Senior National Conference Leader and Chief Spokesperson of the party, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi and Party Leader Aga Syed Yusuf conducted an extensive tour of Mir Behri areas of Dal Lak interiors and condemned the Government’s apathy towards the people.“These areas have been left to the mercy of rising waters deliberately by the administration as a consequence of them voting against PDP in the recent elections. The Chief Minister is busy begging for her chair to be saved in New Delhi while the State has descended into unprecedented chaos and uncertainty on both the political and the governance front. Basic governance has come to a standstill as PDP seems to be singularly focussed on saving its alliance with the BJP”, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi said while speaking to reporters during his tour of the flooded areas today.

The NC Chief Spokesperson said the government should take immediate and drastic measures to de-water the areas and also ensure the affected families get adequate and timely relief and compensation to deal with their losses. “The least this Government can do is not torment the people – every other expectation has ended up in disappointment. The Chief Minister seems to be personally involved in this ruthless and unethical discrimination against those people who voted against PDP in the parliament by-polls”, Aga Syed Ruhullah added. The NC leaders ensured the local inhabitants that they would leave no stone unturned to wake up the administration from its slumber and would demand justice for the affected families at all costs.Expressing serious concern over safety of people due to water logging, he said it is beyond comprehension even to imagine any government stooping so low in order to satiate its political vendetta. He said the water logging has exposed the residents to numerous challenges, imminent damage to their dwelling units being most severe. He said the forced submergence can lead to several water borne diseases apart from impacting the mobility of the residents.Aga Syed Ruhullah said the present coalition government has lost any moral authority to govern, which in any case is in shambles. “In such a disgusting scenario, the administration should not allow itself become party to peoples’ woes”, he said and hoped that immediate steps will be taken for discharge of the water by opening the gates and pressing into service dewatering pumps. These measures are needed to be taken on war footing basis to save the area from the imminent threat of epidemic. (CNS)
