The National Conference (NC) is all set to rake up the abrogation of Article 370 and its fall out in the ongoing winter session in the Lok Sabha. The party Member Parliaments (MPs) will also try to seek a discussion on the fall-out of the Centre’s decision in Kashmir since August 5 and press for the restoration of August 4 position.The central government repealed the special status of Jammu and Kashmir (Article 370) and bifurcated the erstwhile State into two Union Territories on August 5.Talking to the wire service–Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Member of Parliament from Anantnag and NC leader, Hassnain Masoodi said that they expect a discussion on Kashmir will take place in the parliament next week during which the NC MPs will raise the issue of August 5 decision and its fallout.“We have been telling the government that the decision taken on August 5 was against the constitution. As far as its fallout is concerned, there has been massive disapproval by the people on whatever was done by the government on August 5. We expect there will good discussion and we would highlight all the aspects of the problem,” he said.He added that they have been informing the government that the August 5 decision will widen the gulf between union of India and Jammu and Kashmir. “There are manifestations as such a decision was not in the tune of the Prime Minister’s slogans which he has said from time to time,” Masoodi told KNO.Asked whether the NC MPs are going to demand restoration of Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, Masoodi said, “Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir is not our objective. Although the leadership is still caged, but still I am telling you that statehood is not our see objective as we want August 4 position to be restored,” he added.Kashmir Valley observed a complete shutdown for 100 straight days to protest against the abrogation of Article 370, following which the life was limping back to normal with almost all the shops and other business establishments remaining open.However, posters reportedly appeared in many areas, asking traders to close down their shops again following which the shutdown knocked the Valley again and all the shops and other business establishments remaining closed while as the vehicular movement too is thin on the roads.
