The Members of Parliament (MP) from National Conference (NC) on Thursday staged a protest against the continuous detention of party’s patron and incumbent MP from Srinagar, Dr. Farooq Abdullah.According to the wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Dr. Abdullah was booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) and is under detention since August 5, when the central government abrogated the special status of Jammu and Kashmir (Article 370) and bifurcated the erstwhile State into two Union Territories.The two MPs from NC—Muhammad Akbar Lone and Hassnain Masoodi protested in zero hour today in the parliament against Dr. Abdullah’s detention, demanding speaker to ensure the participation Farooq’s participation in the ongoing winter session.Hasnain Masoodi while talking to KNO said that Dr. Abdullah being an elected representative for lakhs of Kashmiris should be allowed to participate in the session. “We have been raising the demands from day one and Speaker Rajya Sabha should take apt action in this regard,” he said.Meanwhile, Masoodi during the question hour today said that people living in the Valley have suffered tremendous loss due to the recent snowfall. “The administration has so far failed to look into the issues of people. The people especially farmers and fruit growers have suffered a huge loss and the government has so far failed to compensate their losses,” he said.He added that it stands the responsibility of the government to compensate the losses of Kashmiris who have suffered huge losses during the 18-hour-long snowfall across the Valley on November 7.He demanded the government to expedite the process of providing compensation to the people in the Valley.
