Chief Minister Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh today in principle gave his nod for the appointment of 673 regular staff nurses and 919 multipurpose health workers. This paramedical staff would be posted in various Government Hospitals, Sub Divisional Hospitals, Community Health Centres, Primary Health Centres and Sub Centres across the Punjab. Expressing gratitude towards the Chief Minister for giving go ahead for the appointment of 1592 key health functionaries Mr. Brahm Mohindra Health and Family Welfare Minister Punjab said the primary health services in the state were badly disturbed in the state due to the acute shortage of this medical and paramedical staff since last 10 years.Divulging more detail about the recruitment process Mr. Brahm Mohindra said that the government would not organize any state level function to hand over the appointment letters instead the appointment letters will be delivered at the postal address of the newly recruited employees within week with a copy to the concerned Civil Surgeon office. 

This exercise is meant to save the precious time of the of the government officers/functionaries and to curb the wasteful expenditure on the organization of such state level functions. He said that the counseling process for the recruitment of Staff Nurses has already been completed whereas the counseling for the recruitment of Multi Purposes Health Workers will be started within two days and the intimation in this regard would also be updated on the official website for the convenience of the candidates. He said that once the appointment letters are received by the employee they have to immediately join the duty without any delay. “The posting of the newly recruited staff nurses has already been done purely on merit basis and this staff is expected to join the place of their duty immediately after getting recruitment letter” said the Health Minister.The Health Minister further said that posting of the paramedical staff at the crucial places will immensely benefit to check the outbreak of   malaria, dengue and chickengunia.
