Addressing a press conference at meeting room of  district administrative complex at Mohali, in view of coming assembly elections on 4th Feb for constituencies 052 kharar, 053 SAS Nagar, 112 Dera Bassi falling under district SAS Nagar,  Election expenditure Observer Sh. Jyotiraditya said that compliance of model code of conduct will be ensured in the assembly elections.Election expenditure observer said that intimation regarding violation of model code of conduct & election expenditure if noticed by any citizen, could be provided to him at mobile number 98727-56715, through whatsapp of through email id. [email protected]. He said that immediate action will be initiated accordingly. He said that press plays a very prominent role for compliance of model code of conduct as they have prior information of such kind of violation and the information provide by them will help in monitoring the election expenditure. He said that candidates are not allowed to spend more than Rs 28 lacs. for the elections. He said that prior permission for rallies, meetings, being conducted by the political parties is mandatory to be obtained before the event. Besides this obtaining prior permission for vehicles to be used for election campaign is also mandatory.Earlier he also conducted meeting with Returning Officers, in-charge of Flying squad teams, static surveillance teams and assistant expenditure observers and directed them to ensure close watch on election expenditure being done by the candidates. He directed all returning officers to ensure Video-Graphy of all road shows, rallies and meetings being carried out by the candidates, so that a close watch on expenses being spent could be ensured.
He also directed the flying squad teams and surveillance teams to ensure Video-Graphy of vehicles being checked at all check points.During this while addressing the press, Deputy Commissioner Sh. D. S. Mangat said that requisite arrangements have been ensured for conducting the elections smoothly. He said that in view of elections, a call centre and complaint monitoring centre having toll free number 1800-180-2051 and whatsapp number 94788-94788 has been established at district administrative complex which is working on 24 hrs. Basis. Besides this complaint regarding elections could also be lodged through website ceopunjab.nic.in. He appealed the press correspondents that information regarding violation of model code of conduct & election expenses for constituency SAS Nagar could be given on mobile number of returning officer cum SDM Smt. Anuprita Johal at mobile number 99141-03939, for constituency kharar information could be provide to returning officer cum SDM kharar Smt. Amninder Kaur Brar at mobile number 95693-50001. Similarly for constituency Dera Bassi relevant information could be provided to Returning Officer cum SDM Dera Bassi Ms. Ruhi Duggi at mobile number 94643-40002. During the meeting SSP Sh. Kuldeep Chahal, Additional District Electoral Officer Sh. Charandev Singh Mann, Returning Officer Kharar Smt. Amninder Kaur brar, Returning Officer SAS Nagar Smt. Anuprita Johal, Returning Officer Dera Bassi Ms. Ruhi Duggi, Nodal Officer SVEEP Dr. Nayan Bhullar and in-charge of flying squads, static & surveillance teams & assistant expenditure observers were present.
