Minister for Finance, Labour & Employment & Culture, Dr Haseeb Drabu on Saturday said that peace and tranquility is imperative for the overall development of the State.Speaking during a function held in Pulwama, the Minister sought wholehearted cooperation of the people in restoration of peace and normalcy in Kashmir to prevent further loss of precious lives and destruction of public and private properties.“Government is taking various measures to restore calm and it needs support of the people in this endeavor,” Dr Drabu said. He asked the officers to work tirelessly on ground so that the schemes are implemented in letter and spirit on ground and people get benefitted by these schemes.The Minister distributed financial assistance worth more than Rs.48 lakh among 169 beneficiaries under various welfare schemes of the Construction Workers Welfare Board.  He also distributed cheques among 67 beneficiaries of IAY and Swach Bharat Mission identified by the District Rural Development Department. The cheques worth Rs 12.92 lakh were distributed among 35 beneficiaries of IAY for construction of houses and among 32 beneficiaries under Swach Bharat Mission to construct Individual Household Latrines in their houses.

Later the minister inaugurated the 24x7 Call & Grievance Register Center at Pulwama which he said will help timely and satisfactory disposal of grievances. On the occasion he gave away 15 Power Transformers to the far flung areas of the constituency, 6 Scooties to the physically challenged persons, an Ambulance and Diesel Generator to the CHC Rajpora under various CSR tie-ups.The Minister on the occasion reiterated the determination of the Government towards assisting the poor and vulnerable sections of the society.“Government is keen to resolve the public grievances with good intentions and wants to reach out to the people to provide good governance to the people at their door steps,” Dr Drabu said.On the occasion the Minister assured the gathering that an MRI machine would soon be set up at the District Hospital Pulwama. He further said that a Delhi Public School and a JNV School will also come up in Pulwama to raise the standard of education.  Dr Drabu also announced a package of Rs 10 crore for the development of Sangarwani and Rs 7 crore for health and education of tribal population of the district.Besides a large gathering of people, District Development Commissioner, Muneer-ul-Islam, Senior Superintendent of Police, District Social Welfare Officer, Assistant Commissioner Development, Assistant Commissioner Labour, District Panchayat Officer and other concerned officers were present on the occasion.
