Manipur Governor Najma Heptullah on Monday inaugurated the tourism Sangai festival at Bhagyachandra Open Air Theatre in Imphal. The Japanese ambassador to India and high dignitaries from Myanmar were also present at the inauguration.Heptullah said, "I spoke so much about the Loktak lake and the endangered brow antlered deer that the Japanese ambassador and others visited the lake and the national park."During her speech, she said that a technologically developed country like Japan should extend help in sprucing up the largest lake in the northeast. The festival will end on November 30.A large section of people, officials and entrepreneurs from southeast Asian countries will participate in the festival.Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh lambasted some groups, without naming anyone, for misleading the people that a separate state on purely tribal lines will be created."It is a pipe dream... land belongs to the government and not to any particular community or tribe. People have realised it and had rejected these dream merchants," he added. On Sunday, there were three bomb explosions in the vicinity of the festival site killing one person and injuring three security personnel.
