Terming the Supreme Court judgement against Punjab on the SYL Canal matter as an “Unfortunate & Irreparable Blow” to the interest of Punjab, Former MP Jagmeet Singh Brar also blamed Parkash Singh Badal & Captain Amarinder Singh for this debacle.Brar said “2 crore vich Devi Lal ne Parkas Singh Badal kharideya si, te Sone do Kahi te Captin ne apna zameer becheya - ina dona ne mil ke Punjab da pain vecheya”He also called captain’s resignation a “Cheap stunt” and said “Let Captain show how many times he even entered the Parliament - first he cheated Patiala as a MLA, then he cheated Amritsar as a MP and now he’s cheating Punjab with this resignation - Is he so useless as a MP that instead of raising the matter in Parliament and Delhi he would rather resign and hide in the hills with his Pakistani friend .. yeh resignation nahin, Drama hai, yeh Kayar our kar bhi kya sakta hai ? Bhagoda hai sirf bhagna aata hai”
Brar also lashed out at the Badal family and said “Where was the interest of Punjab when Paraksh Chand Badal accepted 2 Cars from Ch Devi Lal and started the construction of the canal? Where was Punjab’s interest when he never raised the issue with Manmohan Singh or even Modi now? Why has Harsimrat been quiet in the cabinet? All the Badal family wants is money and power - if they had cared for Punjab they would have put up good lawyers in the SC and argues Punjab’s case properly”
He also questioned the conduct of the Govt of Punjab and said “They have spent hundreds of Crores on their luxury cars and advertising campaigns of bogus achievements - why was this money not spent on building a public view on the SYL matter to clear Punjab’s case? Hukmaran Ho Gaye Kameene, Miti Main Mil Gaye Punjab Ke Nagine” .Jagmeet brar also flayed the dual stand of the Congress party on the matter and said “Surjewala is welcoming the decision in Haryana and Amarinder is doing a resignation frame in Punjab - I challenge the Congress to clarify its stand and stop fooling the people of both states and I dare Amarinder to go the full step and resign from the congress also if his resignation is not a drama”.In conclusion he appealed to the people of Punjab to maintain law and order and remain calm in the face of this judgement and said “Punjab is already dying under a burden of loans and bad governance, I appeal to all my brothers and sisters - remain calm and conserve your anger today and save it for election day - we must save our verdict for the day of voting and once and for all rid our state of these dalals"
