YPS, Patiala Celebrates Its 68th Annual Sports Day

Yadavindra Public School, Patiala, celebrated its 68thAnnual School Sports’ Day on Saturday,5th November .Sports icon and former Olympian , Padamshri Milkha Singh, was the Chief Guest for the occasion . The programme began with the arrival of the Chief Guest at 10:30 am and his taking   salute from the three marching House contingents, the standing salute from the school horse riders and declaring  the Meet open .Director, YPS, Patiala, Major General Sanjiv Varma , in his warm welcome address extended  greetings to all present. This was followed by other impressive performances which included slick PT, Yoga and aerobics exercises performed by 145, 277 and 145 students, respectively, show –jumping by the School Equestrian team, gymnastics feats and athletic events.A felicitation ceremony was specially held to award academics and sports prizes to meritorious students. 

Towards the end, the Chief Guestin his spirited addressspoke on the importance  of sports  and exhorted the young boys and girls to take  up sports as a career and bring pride and glory  to their country. He also fondly remembered the days he spent at YPS, Patiala, practicing for the Olympics. Finally, he congratulated the winners and complimented the school in organizing a splendid show.The programme rounded off with the Vote of Thanks proposed by school prefect.Continuing a solemn practice, the School hosted alumni of the Golden and Silver jubilee batches of 1966  and 1991 , respectively,  to  the old students’  re-union which is held every year on this special occasion. The alumni turned up in large numbers to be a part of the day’s celebrations.A dinnerwas hosted later in the day for Old Yadavindrians, guests and other dignitaries  on the school lawns.The programme received appreciation from all present.
