Director General of Police (DGP), Mr. K. Rajendra Kumar today reviewed the functioning of Anti Human Trafficking Units in the State. He stressed to enhance the functioning of these units and make their working visible for the awareness of general public.The meeting which was held at Police Headquarters (PHQ), was also attended by Special DG (Coordination/Law & Order, Dr. S. P. Vaid, IGP Kashmir, SJM Gillani and IGP CIV, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma.Addressing the meeting, Mr. Rajendra said that Anti Human Trafficking (AHT) is one of the bigger challenges to Police which needs to be taken seriously. He said that the AHT units established in seven districts of the State should function on the pattern of police stations, maintaining their Roznamchas regularly. All missing reports should be entered as per the guidelines of Supreme Court and concrete measures be taken to trace out the missing persons. Registration of reports should be uploaded on police website so that common masses can help to check the human-trafficking especially the children which has become a menace in the society.

The DGP said that AHT units shall work at visible locations so that the common people could approach to register their reports. He said that permanent arrangements for their efficient functioning would be made, besides providing required infrastructure including logistics, staff, mobility and communication network.IGP Crime, Mr. Muneer Ahmed Khan apprised the meeting about the status of seven AHT units established at Baramulla, Srinagar, Anantnag, Jammu, Kathua, Udhampur and Doda. He said that the working of these units is monitored at district level and some fruitful measures needs to be taken to strengthen their working.Mr. Rajendra assured that PHQ would provide every assistance to make these AHT units more functional and enhance their performance. He said that State Government is also liberal to provide required assistance for the promotion of AHT units in the State for the betterment of society.The meeting was attended by SSP Srinagar, Mr Amit Kumar, AIG (CIV), Mr. Kulbir Singh, SSP Baramulla, Mir Imtiyaz Hussain, SSsP, Anantnag, Jammu, Kathua, Udhampur and Doda also attended the meeting through video conferencing.
