Despite resentful curfew, restrictions and curbs, across Kashmir by the anti Kashmir regime even on the occasion of Ashoora people observed the day with religious fervor, paying glowing tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), and other Martyrs of Karbala who sacrificed their lives to uphold the supreme Islamic values of truth, justice and martyrdom to prevail for all times to come.In a statement issued to KNS, Hurriyat (M) said that APHC member and Jammu Kashmir Awami Action Committee (AAC) senior leader, Muhammad Yaqoob Masoodi addressed the Ashoora procession at the historic shrine of Aalim Sahab Narwara in Shehar-e-Khas and paid glowing tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and Ahli Bayat.

Strongly condemning the continued detention of Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir, for the past month-and-a-half, he said that it is highly regrettable that the authorities did not release him even on the religious occasion of Ashoora when there is a tradition of Vaz-o-Tableeg Majalis being conducted by him during this period to highlight the significance of the day. He said That the Mirwaiz is being continuously barred from giving Friday sermons from the pulpit of the historic Jamia Masjid, a centuries old tradition wherefrom his ancestors and successive Mirwaizs not only educate people on religion but also guide them with regard to their social behavior and help in bringing about transformation in society. On the occasion, thousands of people present expressed strong resentment over the continued arrest of the Mirwaiz and later while participating in the Ashoora procession, raised pro-Islam and pro-freedom slogans besides slogans demanding immediate release of the Mirwaiz, other resistance leaders and thousands of youth arrested during the past three months. Meanwhile, ACC workers and activists had set up various camps to provide first aid, medicines and Sherbets to the mourners participating in the procession. (KNS)
