The Punjab Government has successfully implemented the Shagun Scheme in the State under which financial aid Rs. 833.76 crore have been provided to 5,55,286 families of economically weaker sections irrespective of their castes.Disclosing this here today, Minister for SC/BC Welfare  Punjab, Mr. Gulzar Singh Ranike said that the SAD-BJP Government also considered the cases of 30,000 beneficiaries pertaining to the period from 1 April 2009 to 31, March 2016, who had earlier failed to get financial assistance, and provided them the necessary benefits.Divulging more, he said that 26,658 beneficiaries have been provided financial assistance to the tune of Rs.39.99 crore in fiscal year of 2007-08, Rs.89.98 crore to 59,989 beneficiaries in 2008-09, Rs. 35 crore to 23,332 beneficiaries in 2009-10, Rs.80 crore to 53,331 beneficiaries in 2010-11, Rs.72.27 crore to 48,284 beneficiaries in 2011-12, Rs.124.30 crore to 82,867 beneficiaries in 2012-13, Rs.121.21 to 80,810 beneficiaries in 2013-14, Rs.87.54 crore to 58,362 beneficiaries in 2014-15, Rs. 89.97 crore to 59,979 beneficiaries in 2015-16, Rs.93.50 crore has been provided 62,334 beneficiaries in 2016-17 till August under the Shagun Scheme.The Welfare Minister also said that the State Government is committed to ensure that the benefits of the welfare schemes are provided at the door step of beneficiaries. He also divulged that the State Government has put into action its plan of providing the benefits of the scheme to all the families irrespective of their castes.
