The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today condemned the sheer debauchery let loose by AAP ministers and legislators, saying the sex tape scandal of minister for woman and child development Sandeep Kumar was one among the long line of crimes of the Delhi AAP legislative party including lying, cheating, wife beating, sexual misconduct and raking up of communal tensions.Stating that one third of AAP mlas in Delhi including chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and assembly Speaker Ram Nivas Goyal had criminal cases pending against them, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) asked AAP to tell Punjabis if this was the leadership they aimed to replicate in Punjab.
Party spokesmen Maheshinder Singh Grewal and Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said AAP had for long being making claims of providing an alternate leadership in Punjab. They said if one were to study the current list of party tickets released by AAP for the forthcoming assembly election in Punjab it was clear that the party had adopted the Delhi model for distributing party nominations. “Already there are allegations that corrupt officials, history-sheeters and money bags have been given the party tickets in Punjab. Won’t such persons indulge in the same malpractices?” the SAD leaders asked.
The SAD leaders this was already being proven true with AAP leaders themselves detailing how Uttar Pradesh based AAP leaders were asking for and taking crores of rupees from ticket aspirants in Punjab. The leaders said AAP had failed to maintain any account of the monies collected by it in Punjab and had not even appointed a treasurer for the State unit. They said it was unfortunate that Punjab was being used as a money collection centre by AAP leaders of UP and Bihar who were not only robbing Punjabis of their monies but also insulting their religion and culture.
Asking Kejriwal not to hide behind the façade of victimization, the SAD leaders asked him to explain if any political opponent of AAP had “forced” his minister Sandeep Kumar to get into a compromising position with two women. “Kejriwal is fond of blaming the honorable Prime Minister whenever the law proceeds against any of his legislators. But can he really explain why it is only his ministers and legislators who are accused of forging law degrees, land grabbing, sexual molestation and even inciting communal tensions by masterminding desecration of holy books”.
Grewal and Dr Cheema said the truth was that AAP fit the sobriquet of a gang akin to “Ali Baba and challis chor”. They said it was shameful that three ministers including Sandeep Kumar had been sacked from the Delhi cabinet after serious charges were leveled against them including bribery (Environment and Food minister Asim Ahmed Khan) and possessing a fake degree (Law Minister Jatinder Singh Tomar). They said this was not all adding 48 criminal cases had been registered against 22 legislators at various police stations in Delhi. “The government itself could be toppled soon if this trend continues as the Tihar jail will become home of most of the AAP legislators”, the SAD leaders added.
