DC inaugurates Self Defence Programme for Girls

Deputy Commissioner, Sheetal Nanda, launched the Self Defence programme under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) here today.Deputy Commissioner said that an elaborate training will be given to girls studying in class 9th-12th so that they can learn certain skills for self protection and self-development. She highlighted the objectives of the programme like reducing irregular attendance of girl students and giving a message to the violence-maker that girls are being ready for counter-defence and awareness is being created among the girls in this regard. She stressed that if girls can recognize and respond to potentially dangerous situations, they can be more confident in their everyday activities. She called upon participants to create awareness regarding gender equality and raise their voice against any kind of abuse.It was informed that professional Martial Arts experts will impart the training which will continue till 30thJanuary with each batch of students to be trained for 10 days. It was informed that similar programmes shall also be organised at Vijaypur, Ghagwal and other parts of the district.
