Maintaining that new benchmarks of accountability and transparency are being set in governance by the present government, the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh today asked people to become active stakeholders in effective implementation of the developmental programmes at the grassroots level.The Deputy Chief Minister was addressing a huge gathering at Daleu-Baggan, Billawar a remote village in Kathua district of Jammu division here today.MLA Bani, Mr Jewan Lal, prominent citizens and senior officers of the administration were present on the occasion.Dr Singh while highlighting the achievements registered by the coalition government said that sustained developmental initiatives have been set into motion in every sector and these are being monitored constantly for their effective implementation so that people feel tangible change on the ground. 

He said people have also been involved in the implementation of these schemes which have made them area specific and also ensuring their timely completion.“Strict instructions have been passed down the line to close the schemes within their stipulated time-frame so that the funds earmarked are utilized fully without any cost escalation”, he maintained and said the people have started experiencing the impact of these schemes on the ground level. Terming power sector as one of the thrust areas, the Deputy Chief Minister said several flagship programmes have been undertaken for augmentation of the existing infra and adding additional infrastructure. 

He said that every un-electrified village and hamlet of the state would be electrified by December 2019, so that the people living in remote and far flung areas get the requisite power supply.Dr Singh said the education is other core sector identified by the government and necessary measures are underway to ensure that the children especially those living in rural and far flung areas get quality schooling. He said J&K’s students would be given the requisite and ample opportunities to compete at national level so that they bring laurels to their state.The Deputy Chief Minister while terming the ‘Beti Bachav Beti Padav’ scheme as a historic one said that by this initiative the declining sex ratio would be controlled and the girl child would also be given an ample opportunity to pursue their studies and academic career.The Deputy Chief Minister also announced Rs 10 lakh for the construction of a new school building there.
