The Punjab Government has decided to re-start the Voluntary Disclosure Scheme (VDS) for regularization of unauthorized water supply and sewerage connection in the urban areas of the state. The scheme would continue till July 31, 2016.Disclosing this here today, Local Bodies Minister, Punjab, Mr. Anil Joshi said that earlier too numerous people availed this scheme in order to get their connections regularized. Now, with the re-commencement of the scheme and the regularization of un-authorized connections, all the local bodies would be cash rich. He also said that regular charges would be levied every year so that the local bodies do not have to face financial crunch and basic facilities could be provided to the people of Punjab.The Minister also instructed all the urban local bodies to spare no effort in making people aware about this scheme in order to ensure that maximum people are able to regularize their connections. He also appealed to the people to avail the scheme in maximum numbers and get their connections regularised.
