The pro-freedom leaders Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik are jointly organizing a daylong seminar at Hyderpora on 12 June Sunday in which the Hurriyat leaders and the civil society members will express their opinion to understand, observe and analyze all the aspects of the issue of Sainik and Pandit colonies in Kashmir. The topic of the seminar is “Proposed Separate Colonies and the Ambiguous Policies of the Government” and it will start on 10:30 morning and will last till afternoon. In a statement issued to KNS, Hurriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar said that it will be a close door academic type of function where the experts will present their view point over the implications, motives and other different aspects of this sensitive issue. And will explore the reasons and factors that why doesn’t the government come up with a clear stand on the issue of Sainik and Pandit colonies.Spokesman said that alike the pro-Indian politicians who took up this issue in the state assembly, the pro-freedom leadership also has a program to discuss this matter with an open mind. He said that the pro-freedom leadership doesn’t believe in criticizing anything just for the sake of criticism but whenever we find any government policy against the interests of the Kashmiri nation then only we oppose that move and it is our national duty.

While terming the arrest and detention of the Hurriyat leaders ahead of the seminar as the worst kind of state terrorism, Hurriyat spokesman said that the freedom of expression is a basic right of every citizen and banning of this activity is the grave human rights violation which is beyond the imaginations in any democratic society. He said that in the ‘battle of ideas’, use of force by any of the party is his weakness and acceptance of defeat and it is also a clear proof that this party has no argument available for the arguments of the opposite party. Same is the case with the PDP-BJP coalition government and its policies are full of confusion and ambiguity. According to the spokesman, any hurdle on the part of government in the scheduled seminar will be an open proof that the government has something to hide and they are lying to the people in this regard.
