Punjab Chief Minister  Parkash Singh Badal today released a book about the  prostate diseases titled “Prostate problems- Know before it is too late” authored by Dr. Baldev Singh Aulakh Professor Urology and Transplant Surgery from Dayanand Medical College & Hospital Ludhiana and President Urological Society of India (NZ) here in a simple but an impressive ceremony at Punjab Bhawan.Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister felicitated Dr. Aulakh for bringing out this patient-friendly book to educate the people about the significance for early detection of prostate ailments and its timely care and treatment.   Badal also appreciated this unique initiative of Dr. Aulakh and urged him to publish small booklets in simple language preferably Punjabi in future for common man’s comprehension and knowledge.  He announced that this book would be translated in Punjabi by the state Languages Department so that the majority of people could be benefitted from this valuable publication.  He called upon the medical fraternity to spare a day voluntarily from their busy schedule every month to treat patients free of costs besides participating in the mega-medical camps being held across the state as a philanthropic activity for the welfare of the ailing humanity.Expressing gratitude to the Chief Minister Dr. Aulakh said: "After working with thousands of men struggling with difficulty in passing urine, increased frequency of urine, burning sensation while passing urine and blood in urine due to prostate diseases, I felt compelled by the incredible men and their partners, to write this book," Dr. Aulakh explained. "Over and over I kept hearing how desperately this information was needed by the many patients.  My hope is that this information will inform and enlighten everyone who reads it."     This book is an important guide to everything men need to know about prostate, quality of life during and after prostate cancer and dedicated to prostate patients who keep suffering in silence thinking that it is a part of the ageing process but beware – it may be because of prostatic enlargement or cancer prostate, which can be effectively cured if diagnosed timely.Earlier, in his address Prof. SK Sharma for Director & Head of Urology PGI described Dr. Aulakh as a god gifted surgeon, after having performed over thousands of kidney transplants, prostate and kidney surgeries have put his hard work to write this book much to need of public about prostate disease.  This will truly educate them, bring awareness in our ageing population and remove pain, fear and anxiety arising after their diagnosis of benign enlargement of prostate (BPH) and prostate cancer. Proposing a vote of thanks, Dr. SS Gill Vice Chancellor of Baba Farid of Health Sciences said that this book would go a long way in dispelling the darkness of ignorance amongst the patients suffering from various prostate ailments.
