The Punjab Government has appointed honorary Wild life wardens throughout the state to strengthen the protection of wild life.Addressing workshop- cum- meeting of honorary Wild life wardens here today, the Forest and Wild Life Minister Mr. Chunni Lal Bhagat said that wild animals and species inhabiting the forest playing vital role in maintaining eco system and balance of nature.He further said that it is the collective duty of the society to provide them safe environment for which complete ban on hunting has to be promulgated and make sure to protect the forest land apart from flora and fauna without which the unique and diverse wildlife cannot be expected to survive.The Minister gave instructions to the department to conduct state level meetings twice in a year with the honorary wildlife wardens and every 3 months at the level of Chief Wildlife Warden.

On the occasion, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Punjab, Mr. Kuldeep Kumar congratulated the newly appointed honorary wildlife wardens and expressed hope that they would formulate steps to secure the environment for wild animals/birds/reptiles and other species in their respective areas and share the strategy with the department.During the workshop, Mr. Parkash Bhatti from Amritsar, Mr. Rajinder Kumar from Abohar and Mr. Ram Darshan Bishnoi raised certain issues pertaining to safety of wild animals.On the occasion, Chief Wildlife Warden Mr. Dhirendra Singh and other officials of the department were also present.
