The Rural Development & Panchayats Department Punjab is organising State level Sports Festival of Panchayati Raj Institutions on 2nd and April 3rd, 2016.Disclosing this, Sikander Singh Maluka, Minister for Rural Development & Panchayats Punjab said that the events would be held at Mal Mandi near Sports Stadium Rampura Phul (Bathinda). He further added that competitions would be held in different categories for men and women. Also different categories have been formed for holding events of selected members of Panchayati Raj Institutions.

Giving further details, Mr. Maluka said that the competitions would include Kabbaddi, volleyball, tug of war, short put and athletics.  Mr. Maluka said that the aim of organising Rural Sports Competition is to inculcate sports culture amongst youth apart from laying stress to maintain physical fitness.It is important here to mention that on April 2nd  Secretary Rural Development & Panchayats Department, Mr. Deepinder Singh would inaugurate the festival and Chairman Zila Parishad Bathinda Mr. Gurpreet Singh Maluka would be chief guest. On 3rd April Mr. Sikander Singh Maluka, Minister for Rural Development & Panchayats Punjab would distribute the prizes. Winning teams would be awarded prizes ranging from Rs. 51000 to Rs. one lakh.
