Calling for strong synergy between military and civil administration, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon on Monday said all the developmental projects should be completed on priority.“All the developmental projects pertaining to the Kashmir region should be completed within the stipulated time. There has to be a proper synergy between military and civil administration for witnessing better results as far as the development of the State is concerned,” Dr. Samoon told officials present at a review meeting of Railways, Border Roads Organization (BRO) and National Highway projects of Kashmir.He said that we should use modern technology to expedite the completion of our projects. This will give prompt results in the development and prosperity of the State.The officials at the meeting were directed to identify bottlenecks in the process of completing the projects by the concerned agencies.Taking review of the railway projects and some of its issues, Dr. Samoon directed officials to take up the matter with the concerned agencies and seek immediate redressal. Dr Samoon took up the matter with Deputy Commissioners of Kupwara, Baramulla, Ganderbal through video conferencing.

He said railway line is going to boost the State economy but need of the hour is to work for its better service.The meeting was attended by Chief Engineer, BRO, Brig AK Das, Chief Area Manager, Northern Railways, Atul Kumar Jain, Hasmat Qazi, SE, PDD, and civil administration from Kulgam, Pulwama, Srinagar and other BRO, National Highway officials. The meeting was called to identify bottlenecks in the process of development of the state.Divisional Commissioner asked officials to ensure the completion of developmental projects pertaining to the railways. He said that Budgam and Srinagar railways stations should get power supply for hassle free commuting.Describing railway connectivity as vital all-weather alternate link in the State, Dr. Samoon told officials to introduce special services for commuters across Kashmir. He asked officials that they should also map the requirement of skills so that local youth are trained in maintenance of tracks and other connected jobs to increase their chances of employment. Dr. Samoon was informed about various projects undertaken by the BRO and National Highways.

The BRO officials discussed various issues pertaining to their projects in various north Kashmir districts. Chief Engineer, BRO informed the meeting that they were expediting their works in various districts. Meanwhile Dr Samoon asked the BRO officials to provide State administration list of works and DPRs of the projects done from last 10 years in Kashmir region.He directed the officials that the work on the Srinagar-Baramulla-Uri road project should speed-up. Regarding Bandipora-Gurez road project, the Divisional Commissioner directed the civil and military administration to make necessary arrangements for the land requisition. He directed the concerned officials and Collectors complete the necessary paper work for the projects.Dr. Samoon said IRCTC of the railways can work out an arrangement with the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation for promoting tourism in the State. He said that the completion of the rail link would not only provide physical connectivity between Kashmir and rest of the country, it will be boost the economy of the Valley and promote tourism in the State.He said that improved rail connectivity in the State will bring in huge relief to the people of the valley.
