Funds being provided in the district under urban and rural health mission should be used efficiently and timely completion of these development works should be ensured. Any kind of negligence for these development works will not be acceptable. This was directed by Deputy Commissioner Sh. Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu while conducting a meeting with various officials at Municipal Bhawan for reviewing the progress of various development works being carried out in the district.During this, Sh. Sidhu said that a special district level committee under the head ship of Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) & Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) will be formed to ensure efficient utilization of funds being provided under urban & rural health mission. This committee will also conduct surprise checking of works and report about all kind of discrepancies relating to work. Further action against the defaulters will be initiated accordingly. He directed the officials present to generate awareness among public regarding various welfare schemes so that eligible persons could get benefit of the same. Taking a serious note about potholes on the roads and about dismantled road, Deputy Commissioner directed the officers concerned to ensure timely completion of various development works. During this he also directed to ensure safe drinking water supply to the rural population. He directed the officers concerned for preparing plans which are beneficial for the general public.

Sh. Sidhu said that strict action will be taken against the officials who remain absent during monthly meetings. He directed to ensure everyone's presence in the meetings. Sh. Sidhu said that first bimonthly sanitation drive in the district will be started from 15 February, which will be initiate in the rural areas specifically. During this he directed the education officer to initiate sanitation drive in all Govt. & Private schools. During this he directed the officials of Municipal Corporation to make extra efforts towards beautification of the city and also directed to plant more trees in the rural areas.Before this, while presiding the meeting of district level road safety committee, Additional Deputy Commissioner Smt. Poonamdeep Kaur said that awareness about traffic rules should be generated at grass route level and all traffic rules should be strictly implemented. 

During this, District Transport Officer Sh. Karan Singh said that strict action will be taken against auto rickshaws being operated without registration. He said that as per directions of Hon'ble High court, Auto rickshaws are not allowed to commute on Highways. He said that Permits to Auto Rickshaws is being provided as per Municipal Limits. He said that all Auto Rickshaw owners have been directed to mention their permit number with MC Limits on wind screen of their auto rickshaw. Then after, a district level meeting of Health Committee and Mining Department was also presided by Additional Deputy Commissioner Smt. Poonamdeep Kaur.During this, SDM Mohali Sh. Lakhmeer Singh, Assistant Commissioner (General) Smt. Avneet Kaur, SDM (Dera bassi) Sh. Shiv Kumar, SDM (Kharar) Sh. Amninder Kaur Brar, Civil Surgeon Dr. Neelam Bhardwaj, District Education Officer Sh. Mewa Singh Sidhu, Executive Engineer (Public Health) Sh. Sukhvinder Singh Pandher, Executive Engineer (PWD) Sh. N.S.Walia and other officers of various departments were present.
