The District Development Commissioner Shopian G.M. Dar today chaired an officers meeting to finalize the arrangements for Republic Day Celebrations. It was given out in the meeting that the celebrations will begin with Shehnai Wadan followed by unfurling of National flag at Fruit Mandi Arhama Shopian. Contingents from various wings of J&K Police, IRP, CRPF, Fire & Emergency, Homeguards, NCC, besides students from various educational institutions of the district will take part in the march past on the occasion. The District Development Commissioner took detailed review of the arrangements with regard to security, water and power supply, lighting and sanitation arrangements in and around the venue. He stressed on coordination among the concerned departments for the peaceful and smooth conduct of national event.The DDC directed Chief Medical Officer, Shopian to deploy an ambulance with doctors and paramedics and life saving drugs at the venue on the Republic Day. He also directed the officers of Municipality Shopian to deploy requisite man power during the rehearsal and main function of the Republic Day. It was also informed that similar functions will be held at Sub Divisional level and Tehsil headquarters across the district.
