Terming that some forces, both from within and outside the country, inimical to peace and prosperity of state from were hell bent upon disturbing its hard earned peace, the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today exhorted the rank and file of SAD-BJP alliance to work zealously for thwarting any such attempt.Addressing the gathering after the bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib as repentance over the outrageous acts of desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji in different places of the state here at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, the Chief Minister said that those forces who had always been wary of the peace and progress of state were highly active these days and their sole motive at point of time was to destabilize the SAD-BJP alliance government, which was a hindrance to any such move. He said under a deep rooted conspiracy efforts were being made to disturb the peace and communal harmony in the state thereby destabilizing the alliance government in the state. Mr. Badal said that it was a high time that all the leaders of the alliance must come forward and make the people aware about the nefarious designs of such forces to foil their attempts.

Chalking out a detailed program for leaders and workers of alliance, the Chief Minister impressed upon them to organize Akhand paths at village/ town level and pray for the peace and brotherhood in the state. He said that the hardworking and resilient workers of alliance have always been custodians of peace, amity and communal harmony in the state and hoped that this tradition would be upheld by them in this current scenario also. “I am sure every one of you will thwart any attain attempt aimed destabilizing peace and tranquility in the state” added Mr. Badal.Coming down heavily on the people trying to get political mileage out of the dastardly act of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji, the Chief Minister while on one hand the psyche of every Sikh was tormented due to this inhuman crime but on the other some people were trying to score brownie points by unleashing malicious propaganda against the state government. He said that the protest and forcible closures of markets organized by some forces were of no use as they harassed the general public, who had to suffer a lot because of it. “In the same manner some political leaders have resigned from their posts just to score political mileage, which is unfortunate” added Mr. Badal.

The Chief Minister said that the sacrilege incidents in the state have hurt the psyche of every Sikh so much so that it could not be explained in words. Terming that it was an intolerable offence, Mr. Badal said that he was personally peeved over this heinous incident took place. He said that as the Chief Minister of state he was having a huge responsibility due to which he paid obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib, Amritsar to pray for peace, communal harmony and brotherhood in the state.

The Chief Minister said that some forces had always wanted that troublesome conditions must prevail in state but the alliance had always worked for peace ensuring peace and communal harmony. He said that we were very proud that Punjab was most peaceful state despite of hostile border but unimaginable things had happened in past few days resulting in very critical condition for state. Mr. Badal said that forces who want to push Punjab back to black days were active so people must support the alliance government to crush their ugly head. “Police or state government can never achieve all this without the support and cooperation of general public” he added. 

Reiterating that the perpetrators of this heinous crime would be brought to book and dealt sternly, the Chief Minister said that the Police had nabbed the culprits behind five out the seven incidents of sacrilege. He said that the remaining two would be cracked soon and exemplary punishment would be ensured to those who have committed this crime. However Mr. Badal bemoaned that those people who were duty bound to maintain dignity of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji had been found indulged in this crime.On the occasion, Jathedar Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Giani Mal Singh performed 'Ardas'.Prominent amongst others who spoke on the occasion included Cabinet Ministers Dr. Daljeet Singh Cheema and Mr. Madan Mohan Mittal, Lok Sabha MP Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra and former Minister & MLA Bibi Jagir Kaur.Apart from these dignitaries, Chief Parliamentary Secretaries Chaudhary Nand Lal, Bibi Mohinder Kaur Josh and Mr. N.K. Sharma, MLAs Bibi Jagir Kaur and Jathedar Surinder Singh Bhullewal Raathan besides Deputy Commissioner Rupnagar Ms. Tanu Kashyap and SSP Rupnagar Mr. Varinder Pal Singh were also present on the occasion.
