DC Udhampur distributes Rs 11 lakh relief cheques among affected families

Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary visited the landslide affected area in Chore-Motu village in  Deot Niabat of Majalta Tehsil adjoining Billawar block to take stock of the damages and disburse immediate relief among families.The DC inspected the landslide affected area, damaged houses, slide prone area and site of rehabilitation. He interacted with the sufferers of natural calamity and extended support and assistance from various departments.Relief cheques worth Rs 1,01,900/- each were handed over to heads of 8 affected families of Krishan Singh, Chain Singh, Romal Singh, Babu Ram, Onkar Singh, Shankar Mani, Prakash Singh and Lal Singh.Rs 1.80 lakh was provided for fodder, medicines for livestock of these families. Ration for a period of 4 months was also provided through CAPD Department. Relief was provided to 49 persons and for 88 cattle. The relief amount has been disbursed within 2 days of natural calamity.

Dr Shahid also monitored opening of Health Centre, Water Supply Lline & Storage, Power Supply, installation of additional tents and opening of Anganwadi centre for the relief camp.The DC also provided 16 additional tents for the families, Kerosene lamps, medicines, safety equipment and other utilities among the families. He also directed the ZEO for ensuring education of children and linking them with the makeshift anganwadi centre opened.A committee of villages was also constituted for coordination with district administration for relief disbursement and effective rehabilitation. The local people lead by Sarpanchs appreciated the promptness of district administration in immediate rescue and providing sufficient relief to the sufferers to mitigate their losses.
