Kharif Kissan Mela was organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Rajouri at village Banipur, Sunderbani.On the occasion, MLA Nowshera, Ravinder  Raina was  the Chief  Guest  while  Dr.P.K Sharma, Vice chancellor  SKUAST-Jammu was Guest of  honour.Addressing the gathering, Ravinder Raina advised the farming community to take maximum benefits of the various farmer friendly schemes launched by the state and central government and use the latest agriculture technologies for boasting their crop production.The MLA emphasized on necessity of introducing the latest technology in all productive sector like agriculture, horticulture, and sericulture  with the view to increase the socio - economic   conditions of the farming community. He said that purpose of organising such Mela's is to give farmers a platform where they can come and discuss their problems.

Applauding the efforts of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, the MLA directed them to organise more such awareness Melas in other parts of district so that maximum farmers can avail benefit from the government schemes.Meanwhile, he told the gathering that their long pending demand for vegetable market is being actively pursued and some suitable place will be provided soon to them .While, Dr P.K Sharma in his address asked the farmers to adopt diversified farming to minimize the effect of natural calamities which are happening very frequently. He assured them that all possible help from the institution will be provided to them as and when needed.Various departments like agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries, Sericulture and NABARD displayed their stalls where farmers gathered information about the schemes run by the departments. Dr.K.S Risam , Director Extension, Dr. R.M Bhagat , Dr.T.S Verma  , Dr Vikas Tandon , Dr. Arvind Ishar, Dr. Vishal besides other scientists  from RARS Rajouri were also present on the occasion.
