In a high level meeting held today under the chairmanship of Mr. Sarvesh Kaushal, Chief Secretary important decisions regarding the construction of various Railway under Bridges and Railway Over Bridges in different parts of Punjab were taken. The meeting was attended by Mr. A.K Puthia, General Manager, Northern Railways and Departmental Heads of Various Department of Punjab Government.The Chief Secretary also had video conference session with Deputy Commissioners and directed them to flag all such pending cases related with Railways in their monthly meetings and also to invite the Railway’s officers in such meetings. During the video conference Deputy Commissioners of various districts put up the pending projects of Railways before the General Manager, Northern Railways and asked him to resolve these issues at the earliest. Deputy Commissioner, Amritsar put up the case of Bhandari Bridge, Deputy Commissioner, Barnala highlighted case of Railway under Bridge at Dhanola Crossing, Deputy Commissioner underlined the need to operationalise the railway track from Mandi Gobindgarh to Thermal Plant, Rajpura, Deputy Commissioner, Faridkot put up case for the extension of platform of railway station and Deputy Commissioner, Bathinda asked the General Manager, Northern Railway to take up the case for the up gradation of Bathinda Railway Station. Deputy Commissioner, Fazilka flagged the issue of construction of 2 subways on Fazilka-Ferozpur link, Similarly DC, Ferozpur made up case for the construction of Railway Under Bridge in Ferozpur city to decongest the traffic. DC, Jalandhar put up demand for Foot over Bridge at Jalandhar Cantt. It was also deliberated in the meeting that ROBs and RUBs in Pathankot must be constructed to solve the traffic jams in the city. DC, Patiala batted for commencement of Patiala- Mohali Link track at the earliest. General Manager Railways assured the Chief Secretary to install two escalators and two lifts at Bathinda Railway Station. GM also assured the CS to consider all the other demands put before him with open heart. Prominent amongst other who were present in the meeting included Mr. A.K. Puthia, General Manager, Northern Railways, Mr. Jagpal Singh Sandhu, Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Mr. N.S. Kalsi, Additional Chief Secretary (PWD), Mr. Vishwajit Khanna, Principal Secretary, Housing and Urban Development, Mr. G. Vajralingam, Principal Secretary, Food and Civil Supplies.
