Underscoring on time bound filling of vacancies and equipping schools with required infrastructure, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand called upon the concerned officers to speed up the process of recruitment at all levels in government schools besides expediting the pace of civil works undertaken in the institutions. He said prestigious flagship programmes of SSA and RMSA have been a boon for the education sector in the state and to further the cause of education in the state new schools have been opened besides up grading status of already running schools under these schemes.“All out efforts need to be made to fill the vacant positions at the earliest by pursuing the recruitment with concerned authorities and putting promotions on fast track mode so as to timely address the staff requirements,” he added.Tara Chand today chaired a high level meeting of the department and took a detailed review of the activities of the department in Jammu district, here today.Director, School Education Jammu T.K. Sharma, Director, SSA S.C. Sawhney, Additional Secretary Mr. R.A. Inqalabi, Personnel Officer to Director Education, CEO, ZEOs, Principals, Headmasters and other officers of the department attended the meeting.The meeting was informed that in the district 1114 posts of teachers and 168 posts of masters have been referred to the recruitment agencies. Taking note of the vacancy position, the Deputy Chief Minister directed that detailed proposals for promotion as well as new recruitment by the concerned CEOs should be submitted at the earliest so that the same can be taken with concerned quarters. He said the department should take up the matter on priority and all the ranks eligible for promotion should be filled with in shortest time frame. He said rural and border belt students are suffering due to shortage of staff and to address the issue promotion process needs to be expedited at all levels in the department, adding that the cases for regularization of eligible Education Volunteers should also be taken up at the earliest.

“In case of ReTs the vacant posts should be filled within fifteen days as these teachers cater to the requirements of rural, border  and other tough terrain students,” he added. Stressing on time bound completion of the works undertaken in the schools, Tara Chand said all undergoing works should be expedited and concerned CEO should ensure that new requirements for building as well as repairs is also properly addressed by taking up the matter with the concerned authorities. He directed that infrastructure in the schools should be as per the strength of the students and detailed discussion was held on demands of different schools with regard to building, boundary wall and other infrastructural requirements. Directions were issued to the executing agencies to hold proper consultations with the concerned head of institutions before taking up construction in the schools.
