Punjab government is all set to engage the people of Punjab and especially the young generation with new age social media besides strengthening the two-way communication. Government of Punjab is marking its presence on popular social media platforms like Facebook, twitter, YouTube and Wordpress.In a statement issued here, an official spokesman said that Information and Public Relations Department has taken an initiative to foray into the world of Social Media to build a strong online presence. He said that official accounts of Punjab government have been made on facebook, twitter, WordPress and YouTube.

Describing the main motive of Punjab government to venture into social media, spokesman said that Punjab government has focused on regular real time dissemination of government policies, programmes and initiatives beyond state boundaries. He said that social media would increase audience reach and improve the accessibility of Government communication for NRIs besides increasing the speed of public feedback and input. He said that it would also help government to reach specific audience on specific issues especially in the case of any emergency or natural calamity.
