Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development Minister Gulzar Singh Ranike today said that Punjab Government is going to organize total 134 special training camps for dairy farmers in all districts of Punjab in the month of March 2015. The main purpose of the camps would be to educate farmers about growing benefits in dairy profession. He said that besides, giving knowledge on different techniques of dairy farm management, the candidates would be imparted training in artificial insemination, pregnancy diagnosis and milk handling etc.He further said that under self employment scheme two weeks dairy training course would be started from March 16, 2015. 

He said that interested dairy farmers can contact to concerned district deputy director dairy or can contact at helpline number i.e. 0172-5025242, 2700228. Ranike said that if any dairy farmer is willing to avail subsidies to purchase livestock, insurance of milch animals, construction of sheds, fodder harvesters etc, Punjab Government is providing subsidy up to 75%. The Punjab Government is also providing subsidy to start new pig and goat farms, he added. Mr. Ranike said that for General Category farmers subsidy is 25% and for Scheduled Caste farmers, department is giving 33% subsidy. He appealed farmers to increase their sources of income, the farmers will have to adopt allied business like dairy farming and animal husbandry.
