While terming the restrictions imposed over Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, Ayaz Akbar, Peer Saifullah’s and Raja Mehraj-ud-din as “state terrorism and interference into the religious affairs,” Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani Friday condemned it in strong words. In a statement to KNS Geelani said, “Although there is no government in the state, the home ministry of India is directly looking the affairs of Kashmir. The hooliganism on the part of police is due the directions given to them by the Indian secret agencies. Omer Abdullah kept me under house arrest for his entire period and restricted my social, political and even the religious activities.”“Today’s episode is reflecting the future strategies of the future government and it looks that the pro-freedom camp will not be allowed to perform their activities. Authorities in New Delhi have always barred the political space of the pro-freedom leadership and they always used the force and hooliganism in place of democracy,” he alleged.

Geelani said that ‘forceful tactics’ of New Delhi have forced the youth of the Kashmir for picking up gun in the past and these tactics will not have any positive consequences in the future also. “The elections in the state were held in the past also and the recent election drama was its new episode but it has never impacted the Himalayan reality of the Kashmir dispute. New Delhi should not mistook it as their victory because holding of election drama in the presence of more than 7.5 lakh forces and even when the entire pro-freedom camp is caged, had no legality and it is in no way any democratic process but it is a military operation,” the Hurriyat (G) chairman claimed.
