A prominent social activist of Darhal, Haji Salam-ud-Din on Friday joined National Conference and pledged to work for strengthening the party in far-off districts of Rajouri and Poonch.According to a statement issued to KNS, Haji Salam-ud-Din joined along with supporters from Darhal area of Rajouri district in presence of Working President National Conference and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. Present on the occasion, among others, included Minister for Forests and Environment Mian Altaf Ahmed and the party candidate from Darhal Assembly Constituency Ch Liaqat Ali Advocate. Welcoming Haji Salam-ud-Din and his associates into the party fold, the Chief Minister hoped their joining will further strengthen National Conference bastion in Rajouri-Poonch belt and help in reaching out to the vast mast of people for mitigating their difficulties.
He exhorted the new entrants to be a part of socio-economic transformation of all the regions and their sub-regions and work for strengthening secular ethos of Jammu and Kashmir, which is core of National Conference Policy.Mian Altaf congratulated Haji Salam-ud-Din and his associates, saying their joining will infuse a new vigour to the party cadre in Darhal. He urged them to strengthen the hands of Ch Liaqat and strive for seeking a massive victory for him in the ensuing elections. Haji Salam-ud-Din said he was inspired by the bold initiatives taken by the Chief Minister during the past nearly six years in putting the State on the track of peace and inclusive development. “We, the people of the border belts understand the importance of peace that has dawned across the state and rekindled hope for better tomorrow”, he maintained.
