All Civil Surgeons & Medical Officers should regularly make surprise visits to the hospitals and in the field. Presiding over a state level conference of civil surgeons Mr. Madan Mohan Mittal Health & Family Welfare Minister, Punjab issued these instructions to ensure quality health services to the people in the state. He also announced to organize special Health camps in prisons for inmates.Health Minister reviewing the progress report of the department instructed the senior officials to take necessary steps to start evening OPD in government hospitals.

Expressing satisfaction on the overall projects under taken by the department under National Rural Health Mission Mr. Mittal said that as positive results are seen and faith of people is increasing in government hospital services but he said that more steps should be taken to make health facilities available to the people in backward and underprivileged rural areas.

Mrs. Vini Mahajan Principal Secretary, Health directed the officials for timely utilization of funds and send utilization certificates on time. She asked the district officials to start special campaign against drugs with the help of Police department and other social organizations and also advised to use new communication mediums to spread ill effects of drugs. She added that awareness campaigns to stop spreading of other diseases should also be carried out on time to time.Slide show regarding new E-drug purchase policy was also presented in the meeting to aware officials about the implementation of this policy. Problems of the field were also discussed in the meeting and steps were also taken to solve them. The progress report of all the districts was also discussed and suggestions were also presented by the civil surgeons to improve health services in the state.Others prominent present in the meeting were Mrs. Vinni Mahajan Prinicpal Sectary Health, Mr. Husan Lal Director NRHM & Punjab Health Systems Corporation, Dr. Ashok Nayer Director Health, Dr. Kiranjit Singh Director Family Welfare, Dr. Bali Director Health Services (SB) and all the civil surgeons, State Level programme officers and Deputy Medical Commissioner.
