District Development Commissioner, Kishtwar, Angrez Singh Rana today asked the agriculture and allied departments to formulate micro plans to felicitate economic growth of the farmers.Chairing a meeting of officers of concerned departments, he asked them to focus on achieving the aim of 'doubling the farmers’ income'.ADDC Kishtwar, Mohd Hanief Malik, Joint Director Planning, Mohammad Iqbal, GM DIC, CAHO, CAO, CHO, R.O Social forestry, Floriculture and Sheep Husbandry Officer besides representatives of Banks attended the meeting.The DDC underlined the need of the development of agriculture, horticulture, poultry, apiculture and handloom sector for formulating micro plans for each block.He asked them to organise awareness camps to educate the farmers about modern farming techniques to increase the farm production which will ultimately lead to doubling their income.
Sheep Husbandry Department was directed to mobilise its functionaries to conduct awareness camp to encourage the rural household to rear goats/sheep and seek help of banking institutions to provide soft loans to sheep breeders for establishment of sheep units.The Chief Animal Husbandry Officer (CAHO) informed the meeting that the department has set a target to distribute 20,000 chick birds (20 chicks to each household) under the rural backyard poultry development scheme.The DDC announced to provide funds under untied grants for synchronization of cows with one time Artificial Insemination (AI) in bad pocket areas like Marwah, Warwan and Dachhan. The CAHO was directed to submit the proposal so that funds are released.Handicraft/Handloom department was directed to explore the possibilities for manufacturing of Kishtwari Shawl for which the raw material shall be provided by the sheep husbandry department.The Agriculture Department was directed to lay special emphasis on hybrid crops/vegetables which are suitable to local environment besides asked to take concrete steps for mushroom and honey production.All the line departments need to work in close coordination with the Rural Development Depatment (RDD) under convergence mode- he added.
