Governor H.P Acharya Devvrat called  upon young and budding scientists to go in the  fields and produce such a research work in the  field of natural farming so that it reached to the  one and all farmers of the state. Governor was  addressing students and teachers of Dr. Y.S  Parmar University on the occasion of 34th  foundation day of the University of Nauni, in  District Solan today.The Governor also inaugurated Geetanjali Hostel  for girls in the University established at the cost of  Rs. 2.50 crore. He also went around Subhash  Palekar agri research block of the University.Governor on this occasion offered floral tribute on  the statue of Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar.The Governor on this occasion said that the side  effects of excessive usage of chemical fertilizers  have started degrading the fertility of soil. As per  the report of scientists of Agriculture University,  Hisar and Agricultural University Ludhiana, the  ground water level in these two states is going  down by four feet per year and the organic carbon  of the land is also diminishing. He said that the use  of chemical fertilizers also creating harmful effects  on human health.The Governor said that in order to maintain the  fertility of soil, to save man and animals from the  adverse effects of chemical fertilizers and to  increase the income of the farmers at zero cost,  there is a need to promote natural farming at the  bigger level. He said that natural farming is also  helpful in environmental conservation and  recharging of ground water.He urged agri scientists to preserve traditional  seeds for agriculture and try to improve its quality  so that output could be increased. He said Nauni  University is capable of taking such initiatives and  implementing these results in field. 

Acharya Devvrat urged farmers and horticulturists  of the state to produce more fruits and vegetables  as per the ability of Himachal's land and also  promote floriculture. He said that agricultural  scientists need to do more research in this  direction. He said that agricultural scientists  should also work towards modern technology and  research in order to make them available to  farmers at their farms.The Governor urged the teachers and students to  make the University an ideal for agricultural and  horticultural research so that the entire country  can get benefited from the research done here.He congratulated the teachers and students on the  occasion of the 34th Foundation anniversary of  the University and hoped that the University will  work hard in the direction of promoting natural  farming as per the requirement.Acharya Devvrat, honoured the Vice Chancellor of  the University, Dr. SS Negi, Dr. RP Awasthi, Dr.  Jagmohan Singh, Dr. K.R. Dheman and Vijay  Singh Thakur.He also honoured the meritorious students, the  University staff and progressive farmers.Acharya Devvrat on this occasion released the  books 'Disease Experiments in Vegetable  Production' written by Dr. S.K. Gupta and  'Objective Biochemistry and Bio Technology'  written by Dr. A.K Nath.University Vice-Chancellor Dr. H.S Sharma  welcomed the Chief Guest and apprised him of the  activities of the University.DC Solan Vinod Kumar, SP Madhusudan Sharma,  University Registrar Rajesh Maria, Professor,  Students and other dignitaries were present on the  occasion.
