Dr Pawan Kotwal takes stock of digitization of revenue records

Financial Commissioner Revenue, Dr Pawan Kotwal convened a meeting to take stock of digitization of revenue records here today.While terming the digitization of old revenue records as the dream project, he said it is through this process that the legacy data can be conserved.Dr Kotwal said that the digitization process will help in streamlining of revenue records besides the records will also be easily accessible to the land owners in contrast to the past.He said the computerization of the project is being done right from the settlement in 1885-87 done through Lawrence survey across the state.He also said that a special survey of Jammu and Srinagar districts through modern technology is being done and for it ground truthing has also been done.

Dr Kotwal said that a Hyderabad based National Remote Sensing Agency has been roped to provide satellite images of farm lands. And it is through this ground positioning and satellite images our agency will measure every farm land and prepare records.He added that in future they are connecting these records with registration and soon after some person purchases land and the same gets registered; the information will automatically go to concerned data centre and there the amendment will be done. Dr Kotwal said that the Chief Secretary’s ambitious target to complete the digitization process by March 2019 will be ensured and till date more than 2.5 crore records have been digitized while the remaining of 6 crores will be completed with the stipulated time.He also assured the concerned that they will be provided enough manpower and infrastructure to meet the deadline.
