The Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister, Punjab, Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu today exhorted the farmers to take full benefit of various schemes being run by the department wherein cash subsidy is being extended for the procurement of agricultural tool and machinery. He categorically appealed them to avail the subsidy of Rs. 50,000 on the green fodder harvesting machines so as to make sure that the dairy development sector advances further on the road to economic success.Elaborating on the subsidy scheme commenced by the dairy development department, the Minister said that the farmers of the state must derive maximum advantage from the scheme as per which the subsidy of Rs. 50,000 is being given on the single raw fodder harvester for harvesting of lined maize crop and self propelled machine for harvesting of lucerne. He further said that whereas on one hand the cattle rearers of the state, reeling with the labour issues, would benefit from the maize, berseem and sorghum harvesting machines, on the other hand the productive and breeding capacity of the animals would also be increased by making available green fodder throughout the year. The Minister said that the needy farmers must send their applications to the Deputy Director, Dairy of their respective districts. He also said that the subsidy would be given on the first come first serve basis.
