Minister of State for Hajj & Auqaf (Independent charge), PDD, PHE, I&FC and Industries & Commerce, Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi today reviewed the arrangements for Eid Milad un Nabi (SAW) here at Verinag.The District Development Commissioner, Anantnag, Mohammad Younis Malik informed the Minister about the preparations made by the district administration for the auspicious days.The Minister asked the Power Development Department to adhere to the curtailment schedule and ensure adequate number of generators as backup at the shrines during these days. He also directed PDD to get the transformers repaired at an earliest, if the case be.The PHE Department was also directed to mobilize the field functionaries to ensure availability of potable water round the clock. Besides, the Minister called for making necessary arrangements of water tankers at the shrines and mosques in addition to areas facing scarcity of water.
Regarding the cleanliness and sanitation, the Executive Officers of different municipalities were directed to mobilize the Safaiwalas in order to ensure sanitation around the shrines and mosques, besides, the lanes and drains. They were directed to repair the street lights so that devotees do not face any inconvenience.While taking stock of the rations, the AD FCS&CA was directed to ensure distribution of rice, sugar and kerosene among the consumers well in time. Besides, the Deputy Director, Fire & Emergency Services Department was also directed to keep the fire tenders readily available.The Chief Medical Officer Anantnag was instructed to keep the ambulances available at the shrines besides, ensuring the availability of doctors, paramedics and necessary medicines.The meeting was attended by SEs of R&B and PDD, SDM Dooru, Exens of R&B, PDD, PHE, CMO, AD FCS&CA, Deputy Director Fire & Emergency, EOs of municipalities, other district officers.
